In 1910 the first competition listed was the Easter "Best Ball Foursomes" won by Mr Harley Tweedie and J E Morton. It is recorded that there were five prizes awarded for the event - two silver fruit dishes, one framed clock, one travelling clock and a cigarette box. How the other half lived!
We are very fortunate that Frank Summerfield, when he was Club Captain in 1987/8 found the framed clock in an auction in Lancashire. the Club was unwilling to buy it so he purchased himself and kindly presented it to the Club in celebration of its centenary.
