The Harewood Downs (Adult) Golf Academy is designed for beginners, or individuals without a handicap looking to improve their golf skills but who do not meet the criteria of joining the Club as a full member.
Members of the Academy complete a 'Passport to Golf' which aims to navigate a journey from complete novice through to obtaining a handicap, thus equipping the individual with the skills, knowledge and confidence to become a full member of the Club.
Academy membership costs £600.00 per annum and includes the following benefits:
Harewood Downs golf club is in South Buckinghamshire near Amersham, High Wycombe, Uxbridge and Watford. A challenging course offering great hospitality & stunning views. For those who are taking up golf or do not have a handicap, the Club runs a Golf Academy, which is intended to provide the stepping stone to full membership. Golf lessons and coaching sessions are conducted by our Head Professional – Geoff Morris and his Assistant Professional – Evie Ing. A sheltered practice facility was opened in 2015 looking over the Chiltern Hills to support our driving range, short game area, practice net and putting green to help you improve your golf.
We arrange group golf lessons and organise monthly roll-ups for the Academy Members. At these roll-ups, Academy members will have the opportunity to play golf on the course with full members of the club who are more than willing to pass on their knowledge of Harewood Downs GC.
Academy members have full access to the Clubhouse and are encouraged to join in with the social life at the Club. An Academy Member can receive a Club Card which allows them to buy food and drink at the members discounted prices.
When Academy members achieve the required handicap (28 for Men and 36 for Ladies), we invite them to apply to join as a full member. You are expected to transfer from the Academy into Full Membership within two years.
For information contact the office on 01494 762184.
Beginners are restricted to play on the golf course until the Professional is satisfied that they are ready. To this end they must first have a FREE lesson with the Club Professional to enable that assessment to be made. It may well be that the Professional will recommend further lessons or that the applicant will request these. Until the time that their playing on the course is approved, Academy Members may use the practice ground. Lesson fees are paid to the Professional. Once approved Academy members are encouraged to play the course at quiet times. They can do this playing on their own, with other Academy members or with Club members who they know.
Academy member playing times – subject to booking tee times 24 hours in advance via the Golf Reception on 01494 762 184
